BREAKING: Georgia suspends 3 for upcoming game

((ht: georgiadogs.com))

According to a published report, which partially confirms something that we at OSG Sports reported this past weekend, the University of Georgia has suspended 3 running backs for their upcoming game against New Mexico State. Freshman running back Isiah Crowell and backups Carlton Thomas and Ken Malcome will be the three sitting out.

Head coach Mark Richt released a statement on the school's website saying "We have certain standards in all that we do and their actions do not reflect the Georgia way. They will serve their suspensions, learn a lesson and I'm sure, be better for it."

Please read our original story from Saturday. We were told at least one active player on the Georgia roster possibly failed a drug test. We were told whom that player was, but because we couldn't confirm it, we didn't release the name.

We will refrain from saying that it is for the same reason that we were told, but we will say that one of the suspended players was the player mentioned. We were also told that player failed a drug test, testing positive for a synthetic marijuana, much like the suspended LSU players last week.

You can draw your own conclusion here.

The question now is who plays RB for Georgia on Saturday. The suspended players were the top 3 running backs on the depth chart after the other running back, Richard Samuel, underwent surgery today to repair ligament damage to his ankle.
