We all saw Oakland starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy get his dome rescrambled from a line drive back up through the middle of the grass.
He is, thankfully, now trying to eat food consistently and is improving. but it's still a long road back- especially after two hours of surgery to alleviate pressure on the brain...

McCarthy is set to stay in the hospital indefinitely...
