So...the St. Petersburg, FL city attorney sends a letter to the Hillsborough County (Tampa) attorney's office and says "If you say Rays Stadium--we're going to sue you".
Hahahahaha...
That's pretty funny. But apparently true.
St. Pete city attorney John Wolfe apparently DID send just such a letter after learning Hillsborough invited the Rays to talk about the team's future in the region.
According to the Tampa Tribune, the letter doesn't say you can't talk; just you can't talk about a new stadium.
Read the story RIGHT HERE
As many of you know, the Rays are less-than-happy about playing in a dome that feels like a basketball arena near partially vacant downtown St. Pete. And having been to Tropicana Field, it's an incredibly odd experience.
The team has been exploring potential ways out of their lease, which runs for another 14-plus years. But to no avail.
In the meantime, attendance sags due to the stadium not necessarily being easy to get to for most of the Bay Area's population.
So the battle continues. And really, we'd love to see what happens if the Rays mention the words "New Stadium" during their presentation. It would be really funny. Maybe not to the politicians involved, but for the rest of us...yeah, go ahead...we "Triple Dog Dare Ya!"
