Italian Match-Fixing Arrests Now At 17

The number of arrests in the match-fixing/illegal betting scandal for Italian soccer is now at 17- including two active players.

Last month a player for the Gubbio franchise was approached and offered $260,300 to affect the outcome of a match between Cesena and Gubbio back on November 30th. The player refused and reported the incident to the police.

Last June, 16 people were arrested as part of the inquiry, which is being led by prosecutors in the Italian town of Cremona, and former Atalanta captain Cristiano Doni was targeted as part of the investigation.

Here's the live report from earlier, thanks to our friends at Sky/TG24 where Doni was arrested...

And, yes, it's in Italian...
