Houston Texans DC Wade Phillips is taking a medical leave of absence for a couple of weeks. He will undergo what is referred to as a "scheduled medical procedure."
Linebackers coach Reggie Herring will handle the defense while Phillips is out.
Herring was the linebackers coach for the Dallas Cowboys from 2008-2010 when Phillips was their head coach. He also had a previous tour with the Texans from 2002-2003.
