Well, we know why now former Alabama Offensive Coordinator Jim McElwain backed out of coaching at Memphis last week.

It's because he was named today (Monday) as the head coach at Colorado State.

McElwain replaces Steve Fairchild who was let go at the end of the season. Colorado State was 3-9 in each of the last 3-seasons and attendance has been steadily sinking.

This should, in theory, be a good hire for Colorado State. The consensus has been McElwain has been ready for a shot at building a program for a couple of years.

The move leaves Alabama coach Nick Saban digging to find a new coordinator, though we suspect his search won't take too particularly long.

No word yet on the "Official Announcement" of McElwain's hire.
