Charlie Weis |
Enough of the Get Smart jokes.
Kansas University announced Thursday afternoon that former Notre Dame head coach and now former University of Florida offensive coordinator Charlie Weis will be their 37th head coach. Weis replaces Turner Gill who was fired 2-years into a 5-year contract that saw the Jayhawks regress to being one of the country's worst football teams.
Weis will be introduced at a Friday press conference in Lawrence.
You'll recall Weis took a job early last year to be the offensive coordinator at the University of Florida. Weis asked at that time why take that job said he took the VERY high paying assistant job at UF to be closer to his son who is enrolled there.
The Gators struggled mightily on offense this past season as Weis was transitioning from Urban Meyer's offense to his. No word yet on Wil Muschamp's plans with Weis.
