According to reports out of Oregon, Oregon State defensive tackle Fred Thompson collapsed and died of a heart attack during a basketball game at the schools Dixon Rec Center Wednesday night.

Thompson, who was finishing his freshman year at the school, was 19-years old. The 6-4, 317lb Thompson was considered a "Grayshirt" player who was injured before the season began but dressed out later in the season and was expected to be a significant contributor to the Beavers next season.

He came to Oregon from Richmond, California.

The school will be holding a press conference Thursday to talk about what happened and at this point, no other details have been released.

Sympathies to the Thompson family and the athletes, coaches and students of Oregon State.
